NASA’s Artemis III Mission to Land Humans on Moon by 2026

NASA has officially set 2026 as the target year for Artemis III, the mission that will return humans to the Moon’s surface. The mission will leverage SpaceX’s Starship as the lunar lander, while NASA’s Orion spacecraft will transport astronauts from Earth. The landing site near the lunar South Pole was chosen due to potential water ice deposits, which could support future lunar bases.

Artemis III will include the first woman and the next man to walk on the Moon, conducting scientific experiments and testing new technologies for sustained lunar presence. This mission paves the way for future Mars expeditions. Delays due to technical challenges and funding have pushed the timeline, but NASA remains confident in its progress.
